Life is a Highway!

I drove on the Highway for the first time in my life. It was sooo scary! There are these big trucks and really fast cars. I was going the speed limit the whole time and I was the slowest car on the road. Oh well, one step at a time I'll get over my culture shock.

Just in case you didn't know I'm in Utah now. The mountains are huge, the water tastes bad, and my bedroom is fit for a princess. It's been funny being with my grandparents. First my mom's side and now my dad's side. Right now I'm sitting at my grandpa's computer and next to me is a little blue bottle that says, "Wow, tooth oil and breath freshener" (grandpa has fake teeth) when they came to pick me up from Rexburg he saw a wind chime hanging at the door way. He took a deep breath and blew in an attempt to make them chime. He turned to me and said, "well that didn't do any good, all I did was blow my teeth out." I couldn't stop laughing! That is until I was behind the wheel.

Last night a good friend took me up to see the view from a little mountain not far from here. I couldn't believe how much things have changed since I was here. The lights from all the surrounding cities were beautiful. It wasn't just the view that was amazing though. I was astonished at how cold I was!!! It's the middle of summer and I was shivering cold. Saipan has turned me into a wimp!

Here is a great big hug for everyone in Saipan!!!!

What A Wonderful World

I won't bore you all with the long details of everything that has happened since I left home. If you want the complete story subscribe the "Tikla's newsletter" and I'd be happy to send you every boring detail.

For now I guess I just want to post some things I've learned so far.

1. Attitude is everything
2. Staying with your grandparents can be the funnest thing you do all summer
3. Get an aisle seat on the plane unless you want to wake up the guy next to you every time you have to go to the bathroom.
4. Plane food really doesn't taste that bad.
5. Surprising people you haven't seen in two years is a blast!
6. It's okay to grow up.
7. BYU is really big
8. don't laugh with a mouth full of lemonade.
9. No one knows anything about Saipan.
10. Utah is full of white people and I don't know that I like it all that much...
11. "like totally" "just kidding" "and "oh my goodness" are apparently supposed to be inserted in between every other word. :S
12. Running around barefoot turns your feet black.
13. It's really really dry here.
14. Idahoans have no idea what it means to be hot. (they are sweating while I shiver in my fuzzy slippers)
15. Daddy really needs someone to take care of him, or he will eat nothing but cereal, PB&J, and ice cream.
16. Always check to make sure you have your purse with you when you leave a place, it saves a lot of embarrassment later. (I think applebees was getting sick of my frantic phone calls. "did you find it yet?")
17. drinking fountains are really cool.

umm...okay that is plenty for now. :D I should go to bed. Nighty night!

"All Growed up"

Yikes! I am officially an adult. How crazy is that. I can vote, make legal decisions (la dee da), and uh well...get kicked out of the house. It's funny I woke up today and thought "I'm 18 today", sat straight up in bed, stretched, and then flopped right back down and slept for another hour. Then one sausage mcmuffin and a pedicure later I'm thinking bring it on!

Double Yikes! I leave on Friday!

This is my YIKES! face.

you know

the one I'll have on Friday morning when I realize wait you mean I'm leaving today???

tick tick tick

8 more days.

STRIKE!

We went bowling last night. ;) Alex and Jasmine's mom was here visiting and we all decided to hop down to the alley. We haven't been bowling in a while and it was hysterical watch all the kids bowl with their own personal style. Dad was definitely pro and Sterling only bowled backwards once. :D

Anyway in the car on the way home dad was talking about what bowling was like when his mom was a kid. Before the lanes were all electric everything was done by these "pin boys" who waited for you to bowl and then jumped down to set up your pins for you. Apparently my grandmother would go to the lane with the cutest pin boy. Then she would write a little note, roll it up, and stick it in one of the fingers of her ball. Then when the pin boy got her message he would send one back. I couldn't stop giggling the whole way home. It was just so funny to think of Grandma Brown and ancient text messaging. ;)

TORI I MISS YOU!!!

Sometimes I never really appreciate something until it's gone. I appreciated you Tor, before you left but man things aren't the same with out you around. You are going to get home and be in a new house, with a pool. I'm having to pack up all your stuff and get it to your new room for you. A room I won't be sharing with you. I go to bed every night without a single weird face from you. I was in the car listening to the radio and "Complicated" came on and I mouthed, "Cuz lifes like this" looked over at the passenger seat and you weren't there to say, "cuz that's the way it is" I don't even like that song! I just sang along with the whole thing because that's what I would have done if you were in the car. So while you are having a blast in Utah, remember your little pathetic sister who wishes you were here to laugh over the last 12 days I have on Saipan.
