Our family has a lovely little way of complicating every little holiday that comes our way. St. Patrick's Day is no different. So, the morning of March 17th while the little kids were making Leprechaun traps I was dressed in green from head to apron dieing things green in the kitchen. Mom was a little stressed so I took over the preparation of our classic "green dinner" this year it was a lunch and we invited Lonsdales over with the command to wear green and bring something green. Starr made a green center piece for the table out of banana leaves and other foliage. She gave me a funny look when I asked if she would make a green bouquet for me. "There aren't any green flowers!" So before I knew it we were all sitting down to green Hawaiian haystacks, green toppings, green punch, green pringles, green butter for our corn on the cob, and green cake. Once everyone had stuffed themselves full the little kids began the made scramble around the house on the treasure hunt. From the fridge to the dumpster to who knows where they ended up in a guest room full of golden chocolate, green candy, and little green stones.
The boys were disappointed the next morning to find there clever little traps (baited with lucky charms) Leprechaun free. It was quickly forgotten when they saw what was left behind. My advice never eat leftover green chicken gravy. It just doesn't seem right. ;)
