It's not easy being green

Our family has a lovely little way of complicating every little holiday that comes our way. St. Patrick's Day is no different. So, the morning of March 17th while the little kids were making Leprechaun traps I was dressed in green from head to apron dieing things green in the kitchen. Mom was a little stressed so I took over the preparation of our classic "green dinner" this year it was a lunch and we invited Lonsdales over with the command to wear green and bring something green. Starr made a green center piece for the table out of banana leaves and other foliage. She gave me a funny look when I asked if she would make a green bouquet for me. "There aren't any green flowers!" So before I knew it we were all sitting down to green Hawaiian haystacks, green toppings, green punch, green pringles, green butter for our corn on the cob, and green cake. Once everyone had stuffed themselves full the little kids began the made scramble around the house on the treasure hunt. From the fridge to the dumpster to who knows where they ended up in a guest room full of golden chocolate, green candy, and little green stones.
The boys were disappointed the next morning to find there clever little traps (baited with lucky charms) Leprechaun free. It was quickly forgotten when they saw what was left behind. My advice never eat leftover green chicken gravy. It just doesn't seem right. ;)

Prayer of the Children

Prayer of the Children

Dr. Suess

"When I was quite young
and quite small for my size,
I met an old man in the Desert of Drize.
And he sang me a song I will never forget.
At least, well, I haven't forgotten it yet.
He sat in a terribly prickly place.
But he sang with a sunny sweet smile on his face:
When you think things are bad,
when you feel sour and blue,
when you start to get mad . . .
you should do what I do!
Just tell yourself, Duckie,
you're really quite lucky!
Some people are much more . . .
oh, ever so much more . . .
oh, muchly much-much more
unlucky than you! . . ."

Dr. Seuss, Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?

College...scary

I turn 18 this year. I'll be a legal adult, get to sign stuff, go to relief society, be old, and go to college. Where did time go? I feel like I'm 14 still playing Amy in "Little Women" and babysitting for the Tenny's. My last Christmas living at home is gone and I'm going to go get lost in the real world. I hope I never really grow up. I always want to be able to dance in the kitchen, and spin circles in the grass. Look out world here comes the first little birdy from the Brown's nest. In so many ways I'm thrilled! I'll be on my way! No more holding back, and becoming something new. Moving so much has made me love change. I can only stand to have my room in the same arrangement for so long and then I have to pull all the furniture out and do something different. I don't think you're allowed to paint your dorm rooms so no one will have to worry about me messing up the walls with stenciling and sponge paint. My mom says that she is going to have to warn who ever I end up getting married to that they may come home one day and find I've ripped out the carpet and painted a mural on the floor. Once I get to college I know I'm going to love it. I already love the people I haven't met yet and the experiences I haven't had. It's just leaving that will be hard. It always is. It's amazing how many good people there are in the world. No matter where you go you will always find people trying to do the right thing. Too bad I can't snatch them all up and put them on a big grassy hill and we could have a picnic all together. I guess that will be like the celestial kingdom. A bunch of people who are trying to do the right thing. sorry I'm off topic now, but hey it's my blog right I can talk about whatever I want!

My Family

A little while back there was a newspaper article written on our family during the Scrooge play faze. It was a little akward but hey itsn't not every day your family is put in then newspaper. The article was titled The Family that Sings Together. I sure am going to miss them when I leave the nest to try my wings.

Googling

Great thing eh? Inspired by Taylor's jail post I decided to "Google" me. It was kind of scary...the first page of sites that come up actually have something to do with me! I was talking to a friend just a little bit ago about how easy it is to find information on a person if you have their name and phone number. Especially for those of us with weird names. (Big finger pointing at self) As far as Google images goes the only thing that comes up for "Tikla Brown" is a folding table bracket. wow pretty spiffy! :) I'd almost rather get Taylor's mug shot ;) Smiles!

The LAST MAGIC SHOW!!!

Saturday night was my very last magic show. It's weird. It's been almost a year of doing magic shows ever Wednesday and Saturday night.

It all started when we got this email that a magician guy on island needed a new assistant. It sounded like fun so I went and watched one of the shows. It didn't look too complicated so I waited until after the show and talked with the magician and told him I was interested. He was really excited, apparently he needed someone fast so he practically hired me on the spot and we started rehearsals right away. My one stipulation was that I would wear anything immodest. He was fine with that as long as I found my own dress to wear he was all fine and dandy to him. I worked for Todd for the whole summer then he got an offer in Spain and sold his show to a new guy named Nabil Murday. Nabil, being a nice guy, still wanted me in the show and didn't mind that I would wear anything skimpy. Then began the next 5 or so months of working for him. It was kind of fun being able to dress up and put on a ton of make up two nights a week. It was fun and I even got paid a little. Who knows maybe I'll do this again sometime. I'll post pictures when I get them. ;) Feel the magic...
